<p>The nested navigation works by finding two include files with the same names as at different levels of the hierarchy.  The higher level menu is searched for a link to the current directory.  The lower level menu is then inserted under this link.  Using unordered lists the nested nature of the menus is apparent even without heavy CSS.</p>
