Development Roadmap
2005.10.17 19:15
I've been kickin' the tires pretty hard these last few weeks, and a lot of new ideas are piling up. Beta 2 is already dated. The auto-listifying of comma-delimited meta data was a big mistake that I just don't feel comfortable hanging out there any longer. So the rush is on for beta 3!
Site-specific data repositories are an important new feature, but just not big enough. I'd like to have at least one major feature per beta to keep things interesting. So my goal is to finish up nested templates and get this sucker out the door. Here's a loose plan:
Beta 3
- Site-specific data repositories.
- Nested Templates
- Comma-delimited meta lists for widgets (with a real parser this time).
- Action processing fixes plus other miscellaneous bugs squashed.
Beta 4
- Divs parsed into meta data automatically like
bodyandheadare. - Error system gets a vision.
- Code Audit to flush the cruft, reorganize, and document properly using PHPDocumentor.
Beta 5
- The concept of a meta list returns, properly thought out.
- + / - operators to modify lists without re-specifying everything.
Before 1.0 Release
- Site exporter completed.
- Visualizer updated to include meta tag editor, AJAX functionality, etc.
- Widget manager and auto-documentor.
- Breadcrumb widget.
- Debugging widget major upgrade.
- More widgets!
That's the roadmap for now. I'm going to extrapolate on this and post it to the front page. Right now the goal is to get Templation 1.0 out the door within 6 months.
