4. You should try out "my comment form":http://blog.paularms.com/article/new-comment-form for Textpattern... but beware, there were issues when porting it to work on "the Whole":http://www.coffman.umn.edu/whole/ due to Internet Explorer adding extra space around @textarea@ tags.
